The Central Park Zoo is represented in a few blocks, in the Reconciliation Quilt. This block shows an alligator laying in wait under a deer, with a polar bear, moose, birds and a snake in the trees. The original Reconciliation Quilt, by Lucinda Ward Honstain, dated Nov. 18th 1867 is one of the most extraordinary pictorial album quilts known. It depicts events and life of the Union after the Civil War. Photo: International Quilt Museum; Accession Number: 2001.11.0001
