This design was inspired by an antique engraving. A large bird stands on ground, against the sky with clouds, berry branches and clover. A lady hooked this in a workshop at my studio and it was wonderful! She mixed several darks for the bird to make a crow. She used a mixture of dirty neutrals for the sky and clouds, red for the berries on the dark brown branches and green for the clover motif. All of these colors were used in their darkest vaules in the crow. The oval was set with a mixture of deep reds and the border went back to dark values from the crow. It was very primitive and the color planning work together to make an outstanding rug. One of the best that came out of my studio! Now if I could remember her name and would have gotten a picture, it would have been even better! Please let me know if you have hooked this.
