This block, from the Reconciliation Quilt, shows a union eagle standing on the liberty bell, with a banner in his beak. The original Reconciliation Quilt, by Lucinda Ward Honstain, dated Nov. 18th 1867 is one of the most extraordinary pictorial album quilts known. It depicts events and life of the Union after the Civil War. Photo: International Quilt Museum; Accession Number: 2001.11.0001. This image was hooked by Mary Barile.
